Consultant - Experience Designer 🇦🇺
Established over 20 years ago, with over 120 headcount, we are a growing Melbourne headquartered Software Engineering Consultancy with a core focus of delivering business-critical digital products to our clients. Our teams work alongside our customers to dissect their complex problems and convert them into value-driven solutions, combining innovative principles in development, design, analysis and quality automation. We utilise Design Thinking and Agile practices to rapidly create customer and business first software, testing and embracing new technologies and trends along the way.
At Fabric, our Experience Designers play a key role in designing thoughtful, user-centred solutions for complex systems and services. As an Experience Designer, you will contribute to discovery and delivery activities across projects, working closely with more senior designers, business analysts, product owners, and engineers to translate research insights into effective solutions.
This is a hands-on role for a designer who brings curiosity, empathy, and initiative. Someone who learns proactively, is growing in their design capability, and is ready to grow into a confident, independent contributor across both discovery and delivery projects.

Key responsibilities
Experience Design Execution
Confidently contribute to agile delivery teams, owning design deliverables across sprints.
Conduct qualitative research (e.g. interviews, usability testing), with support as needed.
Produce user flows, wireframes, and prototypes informed by personas, journeys, and Information architecture.
Validate design decisions using usability testing, heuristics, and accessibility checks.
Turn research findings into actionable insights and design direction.
Collaborate with developers, analysts, and product leads to ensure technical feasibility and scalability.
Apply design systems and accessibility standards to deliver consistent, inclusive experiences.
Support scope and estimation activities to align with delivery planning.
Manage your work to meet timelines and delivery goals.
Take part in agile rituals and communicate design intent clearly across disciplines.
Adapt designs in response to feedback, delivery constraints, or the project evolving needs.
